The Student Forum 2021 about Sustainable Energy was successfully organized last weekend on 8 and 9 January 2022. The event took place at Viet Duc Center, Hanoi University of Science and Technology with the participation of nearly 300 students and representatives from universities, research institutes, governmental authorities, domestic and international enterprises, NGOs, and other social organizations.

During two days of the event, there were 136 presentations with 9 sessions running in parallel. The students were received practical and valuable feedback from lecturers and experts in the energy sector for their research.

Also at the Forum, the keynote speakers spoke about significant topics in the sustainable energy sector including the latest theoretical research as well as industrial applications. Thereby, students had the opportunity to access diverse and reliable information for their future research direction.

After the event, the judging panel selected the 25 best presentations for two award categories (short research paper and long research paper) and announced them at the awarding ceremony.

Prof. Nguyen Huy Phuong, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering (SEE) from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) shared at the event: “The topic ‘Sustainable energy’ of the Forum 2021 is also the one that is receiving clear direction from the government, with a focus on clean energy – new energy, its stability and impact on the environment and sustainable development. With the cooperation of 6 universities having specialization in electricity, we expect the Forum to be an annual event for students to have academic exchanges and to reach out to fellows in the region, making it an international event in the future.”

Dr. Nguyen Le Cuong, Vice President of Electric Power University, noted that the successful organization of the Student Forum despite the difficult conditions due to COVID-19 showed the great determination of both teachers and students, as well as the support and encouragement from agencies and businesses participating in the program. The Electric Power University hopes that, in the coming years, the cooperation between the Faculties/Institutes of Electricity of 6 universities will be even closer, and the Forum will continue to receive great support from organizations and businesses, thereby contributing to the improvement of the quality of education and training of human resources for the development of Viet Nam’s power sector.

The Student Forum 2021 was chaired by 6 universities with training programs in electrical engineering: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Industry, Electric Power University, Thuyloi University, and Danang University of Science and Technology – University of Danang. The Forum is an annual activity supported by the German government and jointly organized by GIZ. The aim of the Forum is to create an academic platform for students in the field of Energy and Electrical Engineering to disseminate their scientific research, thereby increasing awareness and knowledge about energy as well as opening up opportunities for students who are interested in and want to pursue this field.
