From 20 to 23 May, 2019, the 5th Annual ASEAN Youth Video Contest (AYVC) focused on the theme: “Renewable Energy: Powering ASEAN’s Bright Future” was held at Vietnam Journalists Training Center (VJTC), Ha Noi. The contest was supported by the ASEAN Foundation, the U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S Mission to ASEAN, and ASEAN-German Energy Programme (AGEP) jointly implemented by ACE and GIZ.

During 4 days, 10 excellent contesters from ASEAN countries participated in trainings in film recording and editing, provided by the Romanian expert advisor Horea Salajan. Contesters also attended presentations by representatives from AEC and AGEP, delivering knowledge of renewable energy sources and their important roles in development of ASEAN.

In 22 May, with support from GIZ, contesters had a visit to popular sightseeings in Hanoi for actual filming practices. Besides having practice sets, young contesters were provided with a chance to learn more about history and culture of Vietnam and to receive hospitality from Vietnamese people. 

After the training sections in Vietnam, contesters are having a month to deliver a final video and the winner will be recognised in Laos in July 2019.
