Technology and Energy Forum is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Over the past 5 years, the Forum has introduced more than 100 technologies from home and abroad, provided technology development trends, and oriented applied research in the energy field. At the same time, this is also a place to exchange, share and disseminate the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s policies and laws in the application and development of energy technology.

Recently, in the trend of the energy transition, wind power and solar power are experiencing outstanding development, helping Vietnam become the most vibrant market in the Asia-Pacific region and leading the Southeast Asia in this field. By the end of 2022, the total power capacity of the entire system reached 79,350 MW, of which the total capacity of renewable energy sources (wind power, solar power) reached about 20,165 MW, accounting for 25.4 %. In PDP 8, the Government prioritizes the strong development of renewable energy sources for electricity production, which will account for about 30.9% – 39.2% by 2030. In JETP commitment this figure shall reach 47%.

Not being an exception of this trend, the 6th Viet Nam Technology and Energy Forum 2023 – organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) with the theme “Policy, solutions to improve production capacity and provide services in the solar and wind power industry for Vietnamese businesses”. At the Forum, representatives of leaders of state management agencies, business associations, businesses, and experts will discuss, evaluate the causes, current status, and find policy mechanisms to improve the rate of localization of the renewable energy industry.
