Hanoi, on 18 and 19 May, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Vietnam and the General Directorate of Energy (GDE)- Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) co-host the first Match-making Event for Vietnamese – German Researchers on Wind Power. The event is facilitated by the MOIT/GIZ Energy Support Programme under the German Technical Development Cooperation project ”Support to the Up-Scaling of Wind Power” (DKTI Wind Project) which aims to assist the Vietnamese Government to develop and utilise wind energy for socio-economic development. The project with a total budget of EUR 6.900.000 is commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) under the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI).
As part of the Vietnam- Germany Joint Research Initiative on Wind Power, this Match-making event targets Vietnamese and German researchers. The purpose of the event is to support partnerships between Vietnamese and German researchers in order to foster the quantity and quality of research on wind power in Vietnam. The outcomes are expected to contribute to increasing the interest in the Vietnamese wind power sector and encouraging investment into it. The event will provide participants with invaluable opportunities to connect with potential research partners, share interesting project ideas as well as gather information on Vietnamese wind power development
As the market for wind power is at a very early stage of development in Vietnam, research and innovation play a significant role in ensuring a comprehensive development of the sector. Therefore, the Vietnam- Germany Joint Research Initiative on Wind Power is designed with a view to increasing the deployment of and investment into the sector as well as ensuring a smooth integration of wind power into the existing power system. Under the framework of the Initiative, 3 sucessful projects will be supported with a budget of up to EUR 50,000 – 100,000 over a period 2.5 years (Starting Sep-Dec 2016 until Dec 2018). The call for proposals will be open following the the Match-making event.
