GIZ’s Project Offficer as Guest Speaker at International Conference by the Palangka Raya University – Indonesia

This online conference was organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Palangka Raya University (UPR), Indonesia, with the aim of disseminating research results and facilitate discussions on the innovation for reduced emissions, low carbon development, the management of rivers catchment area and peatland forest.

As a guest speaker, Ms. Nguyen Hong Hanh – Giz’s project officer* shared on the topics of developing sustainable bioenergy markets as a way of protecting the climate. She also analyzed the Viet Nam energy situation, potentials and challenges facing the sector, at the same time pointed out key activities that GIZ has been implementing in support of renewable energy development, contributing to the country’s low carbon development.

Other guest speakers included the Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry and scholars, who dived into the Indonesian government’s strategies and innovations for emission reduction respectively. The participation of Ms. Hanh is to facilitate the discussion and communication on different innovations and approaches being implemented globally, and served as the basis for the peer to peer exchange between two countries.

*Ms. Hanh is a project officer of the Climate Protection through Sustainable Bioenergy Markets in Viet Nam (BEM) project, implemented by GIZ and the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (EREA) – MOIT. The project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
