GIZ Energy Support Programme (ESP) and the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (EREA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) co-organised the first consultation workshop on ‘Methodology to identify the biogas potential in Viet Nam’ on 11 September 2020 in Hanoi. It gathered experts’ opinions on biogas potential for proposals of feed-in tariff for on-grid biogas power projects in the country.
Attending the event were representatives of EREA (MOIT), provincial Departments of Industry and Trade, Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Biogas Association, Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) and private companies.
At the workshop, national consultants presented about the current situation of Viet Nam’s biogas development while an international consultant shared international experience on the matter and the methodology to assess Viet Nam’s biogas theoretical, technical and economic potential.
Following the presentations was constructive suggestions by other participants on tackling technical difficulties and strengthening data collection plans.
The workshop is part of GIZ’s “Climate Protection through Sustainable Bioenergy Markets in Viet Nam” project (BEM).
