Following-up the first event in Nov 4, last week, GIZ successfully organised an 1-to-1 online match-making event for companies on setting up power plants using woody biomass resource in Viet Nam.

Within 5 time slots, the companies discussed on their criteria and expectations for any forms of future cooperation with their counterparts. This is the first event of its type, helping to connect local companies and international ones on 1-to-1 basis with regard to the development of bioenergy market in Viet Nam. GIZ supported the connection between local and international companies, and offered the simultaneous translation to spur the conversation between them.

After the event, the participants expressed their satisfaction when being matched with highly potential future partners, who have interests and deep insights into the market and are ready to cooperate. This is a surprise for many of them given that the market in Viet Nam is not fully fledged. Thus, these companies asked GIZ to organize more events of such type.

On a side note, the BEM project has received 12 more requests from other companies who want to join a 1-to-1 match-making session. BEM will continue to answer these requests in the near future.

The event is part of the Climate Protection through Sustainable Bioenergy Markets in Viet Nam (BEM) project, implemented by GIZ and the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (EREA) – Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT). The project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
