On October 17 and 19, the launching event of the Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Club took place successfully in Ho Chi Minh City and Thai Nguyen Province. The Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Club was inspired and developed based on the Energy Efficiency Network (EEN) model initiated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), to exchange knowledge and ideas on energy efficiency among participating parties.
The club aims to raise awareness and prioritize Energy Efficiency (EE) measures, while facilitating the application of EE technology and best-practices in the industry. Thereby, enterprises can reduce energy use and CO2 emissions, as well as increase competitiveness and integration. This model has been piloted and widely executed in various countries around the world such as Germany, Tunisia, Mexico and China.
The Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Club is expected to be participated by relevant parties including Department of Industry and Trade, the Viet Nam Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Association (VECEA), HBA-HEPZA Businesses Association, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, enterprises and energy consulting agencies.
During the workshop, delegates also discussed and agreed on the Club’s operational regulations, including criteria, membership admission procedures, rights and obligations, as well as organizational principles. The representatives from the local consulting companies (Enerteam and VETS) also shared the assessment results on the level of interest and willingness of Vietnamese businesses to participate the Club. Accordingly, 15 businesses in Ho Chi Minh City / Dong Nai and 8 businesses in Thai Nguyen already signed the Letter of Intent to join.
The model of Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Club in Viet Nam is expected to be implemented from 2024 to the end of 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City and Thai Nguyen, with both in-person and online workshops taking place throughout the year.
