On July 29, the “Viet Nam Energy Women Network” – an idea initiated and supported by GIZ in 2022, held a meeting to discuss about the Network’s action plan in the coming period, as well as the establishment of the thematic working groups.
The meeting was held in hybrid format with the participation of more than 30 female guests, including representatives from Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) and its member units, mentors and mentees of the program “Women Energize Women”, lecturers, students, journalists, experts, representatives of enterprises in the energy sector in Viet Nam, and experts from GIZ.
In preparation of the Women Network activities in the coming time, 5 thematic working groups has been formed, including (1) Network establishment, (2) Capacity building, (3) Communication, (4) Advocacy, and (5) Networking. Throughout these groups, the Network’s members will agree on the vision and mission, research and identify the operating model, as well as develop brand identity. In parallel, the Network is planning to organize training, and conduct gender studies in the sector, thereby promoting connection and cooperation with domestic and international organizations.
In the video message to the participants, Ms. Irene Giner-Reichl, Co-founder of the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) shared: “I believe that the Viet Nam Energy Women Network, like other women networks around the world, will create opportunities for mutual learning among its members, enabling them to support each other and bring positive impacts to the society, towards a sustainable energy future. We are ready to accompany and support the development of your Network in the future. “
The idea of the Viet Nam Energy Women Network was initiated at the end of 2022 and received the response of many female representatives in the industry. With the support of GIZ Viet Nam, its pioneer members traveled to Germany to participate in the global women’s event within the framework of the “Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue” in March 2023. In June 2023, the members once again had the chance to attend the “Women Energize Women” Conference in Germany. The event was part of the SmarterE Exhibition – the largest forum for the energy industry in Europe and was an opportunity for the Network’s members to meet and exchange with potential partners, creating a premise for research and proposing ideas for the future activities of the Network.
