After the success of the first training course in Da Nang in July, the second one on increase of the rooftop solar penetration rate’s impact on the grid took place from 30 October till 3 November in Hanoi.
The event was organised by the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority, GIZ and the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN). It is a part of the “Commercial and Industrial Rooftop Solar” (CIRTS) project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The training was well attended by representatives from EVN, regional Power Corporations, Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporations and the National Load Dispatch Center. The course’s trainers are experts from Energynautics, Germany.
During the training, the participants were provided with information on driving factors behind the development of renewable energy, the challenges facing VRE, the role of grid codes and Ancillary Services from VRE, the concept of grid operation with changing renewable generations and grid-tied and certification processes, as well as methods to manage PV data collection systems. The course included simulation sessions, namely PV in the distribution system, simulation of PV mitigation measures and storage capacity approaches. Finally, the training focused on learning distribution systems for rooftop PV in India, short-circuit study, dynamic studies, harmonic analysis and other case studies.
