Ha Noi, 22/11/2016 Today, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Viet Nam and General Directorate of Energy (GDE)- Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) co-host the Consultation Workshop on ”Review, assessment of energy audit procedures on energy efficiency as well as documents and survey on capacities of Energy Service Providers”. The workshop falls under the framework of the German Technical Development Cooperation project ”Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency” (4E Project). The Project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The workshop will take place today in Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City on 25/11/2016.
After 5 years of enforcement, in order to ensure the implementation of the EEC Law in a more effective and efficient way, the Ministry of Industry and Trade would like to review the Decree’s implementation and make recommendations to the Government of Vietnam for revision and supplementation. Under the framework of Energy Efficiency component, GIZ supports General Directorate of Energy (GDE) – Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to review, assess audit procedures as well as documents and survey on capacities of Energy Service Providers (ESPs). In particular, and General Directorate of Energy (GDE)- Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) co-host with GIZ this consultation workshop to take opinions from stakeholders about above activities.
The Consultation Workshop targets senior officials with more than 50 delegates from relevant Ministries such as Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Construction and Ministry of Transport. The overall objective of this assignment is to assist the Government of Vietnam with the improvement of the regulatory framework on energy efficiency, specifically the upcoming revision of the Decree 21. Besides, the Workshop discusses about improving the energy audit procedure by undertaking a stock-taking and review of the results of previous energy audits and carrying out a survey on the capacities of existing local Energy Service Providers (ESPs). In addition, the Workshop consists of panel discussion on finding solutions to improve quality of energy audits, develop the market for energy audit services. The barriers to invest in Energy Efficiency measures will also be identified and figure out how to overcome.
